Anne of Green Gables, kindred spirits, Lucy Montgomery

Kindred Spirits

I am in the middle of watching Anne of Green Gables with Megan Follows, Colleen Dewhurst, and Richard Farnsworth for the umpteenth time. I just can never get enough of it. Lucy M. Montgomery must have been quite a personality to have imagined such a wonderful character as Anne.

And I can’t fathom how the movies could be any better. Megan Follows truly embodied the character of Anne so well that I can’t imagine anyone else ever playing her.

She was able to transition from 12 year-old Anne with pigtails flaring about in the wind, to a lovely young adult teacher with a very Gibson girl look, with ease.

I also marvel at the gorgeous scenery in the movie… whether Green Gables itself, the beautiful “Avenue”, the farms across P.E.I, the scenes at college, or the beautiful beachside scenes. It is all a delight for the senses.

If you have never taken the time to see these movies, don’t wait. They will delight your heart and entertain you to the core.

If you want to find out more information about the movies, watch video clips, or see the beautiful photos shot during filming, click on any of the above images to go to Sullivan Entertainment’s “Anne of Green Gables” website.

Blessings,

  1. Oh this is such a wonderful movie. I think the first one is the best, the others deviate too far from the author's story. Megan Followes as Anne is absolutely perfect.

So nice to have you back, my friend. I've missed hearing about your doings.

  2. I watched Anne of Green Gables again last year and just loved it. I plan to get the follow u p soon and watch that too.
First read the books when I was 15.

  3. Just wanted to say that I looked through your artwork this morning and was amazed. You have such a huge talent—-just beautiful.

    Wow!

  4. Hello Christi, just flew in from The French Elements! I can remember the day my mother came home with a tattered copy of Anne of Green Gables from the thrift shop. I thought to myself what could I possible have in common with this girl? Well, it turned into one of my favorite books ever and I fell in love with the movie.
Thanks for reminding me how much I loved this story.

  5. Hi Christi!
It is sooooo good to talk to you again! You were sweet to come over and visit with me. I'm glad to be back to blogging and catching up on everything.

I love the Anne of Green Gables movies! I bought the complete set and watched it all in one sitting…could not stop until I was finished and then was so sad when it was over! Loved the beautiful scenery and the costumes, and Megan Follows was absolutely the best choice to play Anne. She captured her spirit! Thanks for reminding me about the series…I might just have to watch it again this weekend!!

    Lots of Hugs, Bebe 🙂

  6. Yes, like you, I adored this series. Having read all the books, I wondered about the PBS series, but it was exquisitely done. Have you looked up Megan Follows on Google images? It's pretty interesting and there's lots of trivia out there about the making of the series. I found it interesting that her mother played a role for example. Have you ever thought of painting a few of these scenes?

  7. This was a perennial hit in our home with two little girlies. We read all the books and watched all of the shows and movies. Big part of my girls childhood.

Thanks for all your wonderful comments lately.

  8. I used to wish I was Anne when I was younger. It just seemed like she was such fun and carefree. Oh, to be that age again…..would be great!

    I enjoyed my visit!

  9. My daughter and I watch Anne of Green Gables every year! We have loved it and all the L.M. Montgomery books ever since we first saw the show on PBS in the 80's. I don't know how I missed these stories when I was growing up, but am glad I found them. They are so heartwarming!

    You have a beautiful blog!

  10. We watched these movies with our daughter over and over again.
She is not 34, and i had forgotten about them. We have them taped somewhere.
Would be wonderful to watch with my granddaughters now.
    Lovely post.

  11. My absolute favorite movie! It's my rainy day fall/winter movie and I sit and watch everyone of them so that no stone is left unturned. hahahaha. That means HOURS UPON HOURS on the couch with food, popcorn, candy, whatever. Such a great day.

  12. I think we must be kindred spirits…. first you mention Victoria magazine and Nancy Lindemeyer, then I see you've posted photos from the Anne movies.

So I'm looking forward to further visits to your lovely site.

BTW, my first time here, saw your link at Lorrie's.

    Blessings………
