Two posts in one day… I know, I know. But I wanted to share some good news I just received and a little of the artwork I have done this week. First the good news… my son got his first college acceptance letter today from a university he has had designs on attending for several years now. As a homeschooling mom, this is a very welcome day and one that has not come without some major sacrifices. I look back over these twelve years and think of the mulititude of times I could have had peaceful days at home if all my children were off in public or private schools. I could have had “time to myself” and been able to do some things just for myself. But, I am quickly reminded that there would have been so many things I would have missed… seeing the “lightbulb” come on while doing a math problem or teaching them to read… seeing their eyes light up as they found out something wonderful about how our universe is put together or how our bodies are formed with such intricate detail and amazing functionality… or seeing their realization of how important communication is, as we see an ever-increasing need to have great command of the language in order to communicate effectively in our “wired world”… or knowing that they couldn’t wait until we studied their favorite part of history. All these things and many more help me to know that the sacrifice was worth it. So, I am rejoicing today that I am about to send one of my “baby birds” out from this nest and am thankful that he is a responsible and generous young man.
And now for the artwork…
I thought you might be interested to see the stages of this one. It was a great deal of fun to do.
“Where Dreams Live”
– graphite on paper
This watercolor was done from a lovely picture I found in The English Garden magazine of two people from vastly different generations who were obviously enjoying one another’s company tremendously.
“Joyful Years”
– watercolor on Arches 140 lb. cold press
And thanks to Cielo from The House in the Roses for hosting “Hopeful Friday”!
Congratulations to your son on his first college acceptance. And to you Christi, for homeschooling your children.
A couple of months ago I was talking with one of my daughters about accomplishments in life. I said that one of mine was getting all three of my children through university. (My son’s grad is next week!) My daughter didn’t think that was too much of an accomplishment for me! I told she’d just have to wait to appreciate it.
Blessings to you today,
Lorrie
Homeschooled kids are some of the brightest and best…hearty congrats to your son for receiving acceptance from a college that he’s had his eye on.
You are to be commended for sticking with it and running that race. I’m sure that it wasn’t always easy.
Oops!
Forgot to say that I enjoyed the artwork…Where Dreams Live and the last one of the older woman and the child…just wonderful.
Very nice’
Christi your artwork is spectacular. I am envious of the discipline you obviously have to accomplish so much.
I too home schooled and as wonderful as all the education was; the part I will never regret was all that precious time I got to spend with my kids. Sending them off to college won’t be nearly as hard knowing you have had all that time and all those memories banked up with your children. What a wonderful deposit your time has been in there lives.
Thanks for stopping your by your visits always bless me.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I think your artwork is gorgeous. I know how proud you are of your son. I think homeschooling is a wonderful thing in today’s world. Public schools were bad enough when my kids were going there many years ago. I wouldn’t want a child of mine going there now at all.
Blessings to you and your family.

So happy for both you and your son. As a homeschooling mom, we graduated our firstborn this spring. Such a blessing to see him spreading his wings and walking with the Lord.
And about your artwork … let’s just say that I was a bit overwhelmed. I had to read your post 3 times to make sure I understand that you created those pieces. And then I kept scrolling back and forth and getting closer to the screen! LOL Oh what a gift you have been given! It’s truly stunning.
Smiles,
Lea
Hi Sweet Christi, this post is exactly the reason you should never give up on your artwork…. because it is FABULOUS!!!
Your watercolor is so very very beautiful and your drawing is once again, splendid…I love your architectural pieces. I also love seeing things as they are being created. Funny that you post this because I’ll also be showing a work in progress as well today…it is fun to catalog the process, isn’t it???
Many congrats to you and your son because surely his achievements also reflect so well on your home schooling abilities.
Keep the beautiful work coming my friend.

I saw beautiful artwork, heard of your schooling achievements and your son’s acceptance – congrats to you both! oh, congratulations!! How absolutely exciting. I home schooled for a while, and was disappointed when my daughter wanted to attend high school “for real” as she said.
Homeschooling has prepared your son in so many ways to start his university years. Yay! For him, and for you, sweet Mom.
